Accounts, Invoices + Receipts

Breeders Assistant includes basic financial accounting suitable for the needs of many breeders. It maintains a register of financial transactions. Each transaction can be linked to an animal record as well as to contact records for the party to the transaction.

Accounting records are typically used to record details transactions such as sales, stud fee income, spending on supplies etc. We have linked the accounts to other many procedures within Breeders Assistant which involve money. E.g. when adding a vet record involving a fee you're asked if you want to add an accounting record to store the expense. E.g. (2) when you record a sale you're asked if you want to record the transaction. With Show Records you can record show entry fees and prize money in a similar way*. You can then print a receipt (if you've been paid) or an invoice (if not).

You can produce categorised reports on income and expenditure in various ways - e.g. on an animal by animal basis.

We also have optional limited support for sales tax/VAT. If enabled the tax and net components of transactions are recorded separately. For VAT registered customers in Europe this lets you track amounts of money ex-VAT, and to produce simple VAT invoices.

We should stress that the degree of support for financial accounting in Breeders Assistant is limited when compared to dedicated accounts programs. We designed our accounting support to be suitable for the hobbyist wishing to track the financial side of his/her hobby. But it is not designed for heavyweight use, e.g. when running a serious business. In this case we strongly recommend that you invest in a separate, specialist accounts package.
