Breeders Assistant includes many methods to search your database.
To find a specific record:
Use the rapid 'Find' box in the main screen. Just start typing the first few letters of the name and BA instantly moves to the first matching record.
To find a record based on the value of any single field, select Find from the Record menu - shortcut CTRL+F - then select the field and enter the search term. You can search with left match, right match, exact match, or substring match.
There's also a 'power find' feature where you can combine multiple search terms e.g. to find the first animal bred from a given sire and owned by a specific person.
There's also a 'find next' facility to repeat either of the above.
To search for groups of records matching specific conditions we have a very powerful search facility - click Search on the Record menu. You have the following options:
Multiple search terms using AND or OR combinations.
Specify the order in which matching records will be listed. E.g when searching animals you might want them listed by name, or by breed, or by name of sire etc.
Favorite searches - save the details of each search for rapid re-searching. You can store many favorite searches, separately for each record type.
Rapid searches for associated records - e.g. direct descendants of a given animal.
Combine searching with tagging: instead of listing the results of a search, tag them instead.
