FSpeed Pro

FSpeed Pro is software for calculating Wright's coefficient of inbreeding for large populations and/or to considerable depth of ancestors.
NOTE: If you use a Mac or Windows 7, Vista or XP we recommend you try a much newer product: PedScope, which in addition to computing inbreeding incredibly quickly will also perform many other analyses of gentic diversity such as mean kinship and founder equivalents. It can also compute + display relationship matrices and can calculate mating (breeding) recommendations for maximizing future genetic diversity or minimizing inbreeding.

How Fast?
Very. E.g. we set FSpeed Pro to calculate F to 16 generations for every dog in a database of Dalmatians - some 72,500 dogs - and it took just 2 minutes 44 seconds for the entire database. This was a database of most UK registered Dalmatians dating back over 100 years, a relatively closed population with extensive inbreeding typical of a pedigreed population. The machine used was a dual processor Athlon MP1800 (1.4Ghz) system with 1Gb RAM - by no means top of the range by todays standards.

Windows 98 or later. For multi-processor support you need a multi-processor capable version of Windows (i.e. Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista or successor)
Pentium II or later CPU (includes Pentium III, Pentium IV, Athlon, Celeron etc.)
256Mb RAM minimum.
